Mr. Brainwash
I recently watched this documentary about street artists. I remember
a close friend of mine recommending this film a couple of months ago.
but i totally forgot about it. "Exit Through the Gift Shop" is a phenomenal
film about a frenchman named Thierry Guetta who through a videotaping
obsession discovers the world of street art. He begins his journey by
videotaping his cousin and Parisian street artist, Invader, who is known by
his mosaic pieces of Space Invader. Claiming to be a film maker, he manages
to infiltrate the secretive world of other known street artists such as
Shepard Fairey, as well as Banksy, notorious British street artist. It is then
that his life changes forever. When Banksy discovers that Mr. Guetta is not
really a film maker, he encourages him to become a street artist.
Mr. Brainwash is born.
Though I don't support Mr. Brainwash's approach to creating art, I really
enjoyed this film and it helped me appreciate street art a little more.

"Love is the Answer"
I saw this piece while i was in Paris. I remember it always caught my
attention every time I would pass by it. Even though this one in the
photo is not the one in Paris.

Analogical Code
Heres an advertisement by American Express using what's called
Analogical Code, one of the four codes in Semiotics; the study
of signs. Here the viewer makes a mental comparison forced by a
group of signs that are being shown.

Blogging and Woody Allen
Blogging has become more addicting than I imagined. I'm still getting
the hang of the way this whole blog thing works. So far getting comfortable
with the design, I know I could use CSS butI didn't want to spend too much
time designing it.
Anyway, here is a phenomenal quote from
film writer/director Woody Allen.
"In my next life I want to live my life backwards.
You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you
wake up in an old people's home feeling better every day.
You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your
pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch
and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until
you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party,
drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are
ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you
become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you
become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your
last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions
with central heating and room service on tap, larger
quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as
an orgasm!"

A quote from famous french existentialist writer Jean Paul Sartre.
"To act authentically we must take responsibility for our
future. We cannot choose what gender, class, or country we were
born into, but we can choose what we make of them. We are free to
create our own interpretation of ourselves in relation to the
world, to create a project of possibilities, of authentic actions
...as the expression of freedom".

Sticky Note Project
Great way to promote a business and make the audience remember the ad.
This production company used sticky notes to do so.

I stumbled upon this interesting phenomenon called the Dunning-Kruger effect.

It's very funny how actually today I saw this happening to another person who was
showing me some of his mediocre artwork with such pride. Not implying that I
could draw any better, just that he was glorifying himself a lil bit too much.
Purpose
This blog will be mainly used as a useful resource to post any kind of inspiration found
on the web, along with posts concerning project I am currently working on. Everyday
I come across so many things that trigger an idea, yet since its so much information it's
almost impossible to retain, and as a result I tend to forget. This blog is intended for
personal use, and at some point, for peer review and feedback.
